Spring clean your mind

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, there is definitely a change in the air and it brings a feeling of happiness we can not deny! Throw open your windows and let this happy vibe flow through your house. And this feeling makes it the perfect time to start the Spring Cleaning!

Get rid of all the mess, deep clean the furniture, and clear the space so we can breathe. But have you thought about how important Spring Cleaning is not just for our house, but also for our mind and soul?

Here are five ways that spring cleaning can also boost your mind and overall wellness.

1) Clean - the obvious part of Spring Cleaning but a clean house just feels so peaceful to me. If you walk into a room and it looks good and smells good, you can feel a sense of accomplishment and calmness. So give yourself some time to clean and refresh. Light that scented candle and enjoy the space. And I don’t know about you but we have had enough of virus after virus in 2023! Get rid of all those germs once and for all. And a clean home can strengthen your immune system.

2) Declutter - Ever feel like you are just moving items from room to room before you can even get to tidy? Are you constantly losing things in the house and it takes forever to find them? And then getting stressed looking for it? It may be time to declutter and clear out. Make three piles - one for items to donate, one for items to throw out and one pile for items to sell. Don’t overwhelm yourself. Just tackle one small area at a time. Tomorrow, start with that overflowing kitchen drawer, and the next day tackle your wardrobe. When start small, you can really see a difference fast. Less clutter in the house means less clutter in the mind.

3) Clean the windows inside and out – clean windows means the sun can shine through. Sit back and take time to enjoy the view. Look at how Spring is awakening and let it fill you with wonder. Feel the sun on your skin as you enjoy your morning coffee! And with the weather improving it is the perfect time to remind yourself to start wearing sunscreen on your face, neck and back of the hands - even indoors.

4) Air the bedding, change the sheets and make your bed look inviting! Clean sheets can actually boost your mood. How good does it feel to get into a bed with clean sheets? You know those are the nights when you get the best sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

5) Clean out the fridge. Get rid of what you don’t need and use this Spring time as the perfect time to nourish your body. So refill the fridge with what nature provides with fresh fruits and vegetables, such as strawberries, asparagus, and leafy greens. The vitamin c boosts your glowing skin. The iron in the leafy greens helps with your energy levels. It’s the perfect time to reset our healthy eating habits.

So don’t look at Spring Cleaning as a chore! Embrace it and enjoy it as it’s so good for you too.
